India’s first full-time Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has proved that there is no limit of what a Naari is capable of. - Nirmala Sitharaman was born on Aug 18, 1959 in Madurai, Tamilnadu.
- She did her primary education from Tamilnadu, Graduation from Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy College, Tiruchirapalli, Tamilnadu. She did her masters from JNU and M.Phil in economics with the particular interest in Indo- European trade.
- She got married to Parkala Prabhakar in 1986 and was blessed with a daughter.
- After her marriage, she was settled in London. She has worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers and BBC there.
- She is heading world’s third-largest force, which has 1.4 million personnel including Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
- Nirmala Sitharaman is the only person in her family who has joined BJP. Her mother-in-law was a Congress MLA in AP and her father-in-law was a Minister in Congress-led government in AP in 1970.
- She joined BJP in 2006 and started working as a team member of six spokespeople for BJP. The team was headed by Ravi Shanker Prasad at that time.
